Week 1: Inspection and Estimate

Our project manager arrives, inspects your roof, takes measurements, and discusses your goals. We check the attic for ventilation and decking condition. We ask about your budget, timeline, and any concerns. Within 24 hours of the inspection, you’ll have a detailed written estimate — no surprises, no hidden fees.
If you’re filing an insurance claim, we’ll provide a full inspection report to support your claim and meet with your adjuster on-site.
Material Selection and Scheduling
Once you approve the estimate, we help you select materials. As a GAF Master Elite contractor (top 2% nationally), StazOn offers GAF’s full product line — Timberline architectural shingles in dozens of colors, designer shingles, and complete roofing systems. We bring sample boards so you can see exactly how your roof will look.
We’ll also discuss upgrades: improved underlayment for waterproofing, ridge ventilation for energy efficiency, ice and water shield for problem areas. Every detail matters.
Once materials are ordered (typically 3 to 5 days for delivery), we lock in your installation date. Most Dallas homeowners are scheduled within 7 to 14 days of signing.
Installation Day: Tear-Off
The crew arrives early — typically 7:00 AM. First priority: protecting your property. We position tarps around the entire perimeter to catch falling debris. Plywood is placed against the house to protect siding and landscaping. Vehicles in the driveway should be moved beforehand; we’ll remind you.
Tear-off begins. The old shingles, underlayment, and flashing are stripped down to the wood deck. This takes 2 to 4 hours for most homes. As debris comes down, a ground crew feeds it directly into a roll-off dumpster or trailer. Your yard stays clean — this is non-negotiable for StazOn.
With the deck exposed, we inspect for rot, water damage, or structural issues. Any damaged decking is replaced before we proceed. We’ll alert you immediately if we find anything unexpected.
Installation Day: The New Roof Goes On
With the deck prepped, installation begins. Layer by layer: first, ice and water shield in valleys, around penetrations, and at eaves (required by code in many areas). Then synthetic underlayment across the entire roof deck — a waterproof barrier far superior to old-fashioned felt paper.
Next comes drip edge at the eaves and rakes, followed by starter strip shingles that seal the edges against wind uplift. Then the field shingles go down — row by row, nailed to manufacturer specifications using the correct pattern and nail count.
Flashing is installed around chimneys, skylights, vent pipes, and any roof penetrations. Ridge vent is cut and installed at the peak for continuous attic ventilation. Finally, ridge cap shingles finish the look.
Installation takes 6 to 10 hours for a typical home. The crew works systematically — you can literally watch your new roof appear section by section.
Day 2 (If Needed): Finishing Touches
Larger homes, complex rooflines, or steep pitches may require a second day. The crew wraps up any remaining sections, installs the final ridge caps, and does a thorough nail sweep. Nails in the driveway or yard are unacceptable — our crew uses magnetic sweepers to capture every single one.
Cleanup and Final Inspection
Cleanup is part of the job, not an afterthought. The dumpster or trailer is hauled away. Tarps come up. Every piece of debris is removed. We do a final magnetic sweep of the driveway, walkways, and landscaping. Then our project manager walks the roof to inspect every detail — shingle alignment, flashing integrity, ventilation, and overall workmanship.
Finally, we walk the property with you. We show you what was done, answer any questions, and make sure you’re 100% satisfied before we consider the job complete. You’ll receive your GAF warranty registration, lien waiver, and final invoice.
