Severe weather and storm damage is inevitable in Texas.  It is important to us, that you and your loved ones are knowledgeable and prepared in the event a severe storm approaches. If you are affected by storm damage, I hope that you will consider StazOn Roofing, Inc. to aid in your roofing needs.

Pre-Storm Tips

  • Keep roof inspected and maintained.
  • Keep gutters clear of any debris.
  • Close blinds, drapes or curtains to help prevent glass from coming inside the building.
  • Own a battery, solar or crank operated weather radio.
  • Have medications and first aid supplies for three to five days for you and your pets.
  • Have extra cash in case of power outages as you may not have access to an ATM.
  • Extra blankets, pillows and towels.
  • Own battery-operated flash lights.
  • Three to five days of bottled water and non-perishable food.
  • Food, water and health records for your pets.
  • Any needed health records for yourself and family.
  • Owning a portable phone charger.
  • Emergency numbers on a laminated card as well as any important documents such a insurance, identification cards, social security cards in water proof bags or containers.
  • Safe room for shelter during severe weather.

Storm Awareness

Watches:
Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when severe thunderstorms are possible near the area.
Tornado watches are issued when the weather conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms that could produce tornadoes.
High wind watches are issued when either sustained winds of 40 mph or higher for one hour or more or wind gusts of 58 mph or higher for any duration are possible.

Warnings:
Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued
when severe thunderstorms are occurring
in the area. Severe thunderstorms will
include winds over 58 mph and/or hail one
inch in diameter or larger.
Tornado warnings are issued when a tornado, funnel cloud or cloud rotation has been spotted.

High wind warnings are issued when either sustained winds of 40 mph or higher for one hour of more or wind gusts of 58 mph or higher for any duration are expected.

Pre-Storm Tips

  • Take photographs of any signs of damage
  • Inspect your roof for damage. Look for any spots that may have come loose or blown off.
  • If you suffered serious damage, consult with a roofing contractor. Do not attempt to get on roof.
  • Check for leaks by looking for water spots on ceilings
  • Check for down power lines or gas leaks. If you find either notify your utility provider. Do not approach a downed line.
  • Avoid flood waters as the water could be contaminated or electrically charged from down power lines.
  • Enter the building carefully. If your door sticks along the top as you try to enter stop and do not enter. This could be a sign of more sever roof damage.
  • Do not light any candles, cigarettes, or operate electrical switches around the house until the building is inspected. When cleaning never mix bleach with ammonia products containing ammonia.
